Houston Horned Frogs Academy
The Houston Horned Frog Academy is our new innervated way to assist in training young athletes during a 7 week span. There are no professional basketball teams in any league that offer anything like this. Many young athletes never receive the proper training that is needed for them to succeed so our academy will prepare them for the next level.
Our players and staff will dedicate there time outside of the season to helping train and mold young basketball players on and off the court. The academy offers courses for ages from 9+ so that everyone is able to benefit from the proper training that is needed to make the next step to either a Semi Pro Basketball Team, College team, Overseas team, or an NBA team.
Courses by Age:
9-14 - Youth Sessions (5:00PM-7:00PM)
15+ - Young Adult Session (7:00PM-9:00PM)
Weeks 1 & 2 of the sessions will start with beginners' course; just a walkthrough going over the basic fundamentals of the game as well as the proper ways to maintain and live a healthy lifestyle . Going into weeks 3 & 4, we will be teaching the boys and girls how to adjust in certain situations on the court and basic offensive and defensive setups and strategies/plays. In weeks 5 & 6, we will place the players through a series of difficult drills and let them scrimmage going over different pressurized situations. Week 7, the most fun and final week of the Academy, will consist of the boys/girls using everything they've learned during the academy to scrimmage against the Horned Frogs team and amongst each other.
All sessions will include Strength and Conditioning training.
The Houston Horned Frogs Network will be recording selected sessions so that parents can take notice of their child's progress, understand what their child practiced during the academy and what they can work to improve on. Families who would like to view their child's individual progress/performance privately will be able to obtain a DVD copy of the recordings.
The academy doesn't stop there. In fact, we will also be implementing a second part to the academy which includes training current or future coaches in a 7-week coaching academy. In this course we will teach the coaches how to analyze, evaluate, scout, train, and implement a team system. This is for coaches who want to have a future coaching AAU, High School or Semi-Pro basketball.
Furthermore, the coaches will receive two hands on sessions with the Houston Horned Frogs owners. While in session with the owners, the owners will train the coaches on how to run a successful organization and show the proper ways of leading an organization.
